Great to have had Manchester legends New Order in this week filming a documentary for the 30th Anniversary of Blue Monday. Bernard, Stephen and Gillian brought in the original Moog Source that was used to record that legendary bass sound and the Oberheim DMX that was used to make that seminal drum beat. We also heard the original 24 Track master tape. Exciting for us all at Edge

Boss John Delf has been on tour with Plan B and more recently 5 Seconds of Summer supporting One Direction.

The Plan B album Ill Manors that was part recorded and mixed at Edge was nominated for a Brit for Best Album and also Mercury Prize Nominated.
Another Edge band The Unwinding Hours have been nominated for Scottish Album of the Year

It’s certainly been a musically creative couple of months at Edge Recording Studio as we welcomed bands and artists from far and wide.
As every band, artist, producer and engineer who knows us has experienced, we certainly like to provide a warm welcome here at Edge. There was none warmer than for Danny from The Script, and Multi Platinium selling producer Jimbo Barry, who joined us for a very long and productive recording session writing tunes for The Script’s next Album.
The Bent Moustache travelled over from Amsterdam to record with us.
We welcomed back to Edge Manchester rock band Stolen Peace following the recent release of their single Devil Hammer.
Stolen From a Crow is continuing his work on his LP to be launched next year and young singer songwriters Sam Lyon and Joelle Edwards, punk indie band The Systematics and Death to The Strange enjoyed the Edge treatment again.
Young, Warrington pop-punk band Tainted Memories returned to record their new single, to follow their recently released EP, also recorded here at Edge and Irish, singer songwriter, Johnny Tristram travelled over from Belfast to spend 3 days with us working on a couple of tracks and to discuss plans with the boss John Delf for the recording of his new album starting early next year.
On a Technical note:
In addition to Pro Tools, Logic and Reason we have now added an Analogue 2″ 24 Track Otari MX80 Tape Machine for all you analogue heads out there looking to record to tape to get that old skool warmth.
We also like to say a very special thank you to Northwich Music Centre for all their help with The Script session. These guys really rock so if you need to buy anything musical make them your first port of call.

Edge Recording Studios Celebrated our First Birthday Party in style.
The beginning of November saw music contacts, bands, solo artists, friends old and new, join Studio Owner John Delf, and the Edge team for a night of music performed by some of those very talented artists who record at the studio.
The Boss John Delf rushed back from the MOBO awards, held at the Liverpool Echo Arena this year, to join the celebrations and thank everyone for making the event a big success.
It’s been a fantastic year. Many records have been made here this year, three tracks from The PlanB album Ill Manors were recorded at Edge Recording Studios, which was subsequently nominated for The Mercury Music Prize .
“Edge is about producing music, supporting and developing artists and bands we work with. Helping them create the very best music they can and enjoying the experience. Rock band Stolen Peace who record here took advantage of the latest service provided by Edge Recording Studio in Cheshire. Video film and production, for their soon to be released single Devil Hammer and a great LIVE recording of their track Lost and the Brave.

Last week we had the pleasure of helping Plan B finish his new Album “Ill Manors” at Edge Recording Studio. He spent almost 5 days with us tracking vocals, guitars and beats for several songs from the album and also recording and mixing one song from scratch that will be featured on the album.
Our house engineers Rory Vallely and Mark Winterburn tag teamed the session which was run to a very strict deadline. We had two set ups running, in one, vocals and beats were being recorded in the main studio and an editing suite was running in a second studio. Guitar parts were also being recorded in London at The Sanctuary and sent online to be added to these session files and also parts we were recording were being sent to Rak Studios in London for mixing. The final mixes including the one we did were then sent to Los Angeles for Mastering.
Can’t wait for you all to hear the results! The Album was mastered at 4am at the end of the last days recording!

Edge Studios Band Competition is now open!!
It’s here, our band competition. Rules are simple.
1. Each band / artist must like our Facebook page for Edge Recording Studios and upload a link to one of your songs/demos/videos. This can either be a link to youtube, soundcloud, band camp etc. or wherever you have your tracks uploaded, we want to hear it!!
2. Then its voting time. The band who gets the most likes for their track wins a free recording session at Edge Studio to the value of £1000. You can use the time to record an EP or Album tracks.
Deadline for all uploads is 2nd June. At midnight 2nd June no more links will be accepted. Each band or artist link will stay up on our Facebook Page until midnight 4th July. During which time we will promote through our Facebook, blog at www.theedgestudios.co.uk , our twitter @EdgeRecStudio and our Facebook page. The band that receives the most likes for their track wins. We will showcase the band on our webpage, Facebook and twitter and upload their recordings onto the Edge Recording studio sound cloud.
RULES
Only one track per band permitted so make it count.
Links must be uploaded on our Facebook page by no later than midnight 2nd June, 2012
Voting for favourite track ends midnight 30th June 2012
Bands have permission to promote the link to Edge Facebook page to generate interest and votes.
Prize cannot be taken as cash.
Accommodation not provided but we can provide a list of nearby hotels if necessary.
